Default Opinions/Experience with Gates Corporation Hoses

Any comments on Gates hoses or this phenomenon of electrochemical degradation?

    Thanks

Go for it, if the price is right. I cannot imagine not changing radiator hose for 200K miles. Then again, hoses are cheap and we usually change the hose when we change the radiator... Very unlikely a BMW or any other brands can last 200,000 miles.

Probably the best application for this type of hose is the fleet trucks who racks tons of miles in a year.

Gates is supposed to make very nice products. And I'd bet you that ECD is one of the reasons that BMW designed all of our hose connections to be plastic rather than metal. Unfortunately that makes our hoses last longer than our rads & stat housings. Hose is a cheap, easy fix. Rads & stat housings not as much.

When I went to order some new rad hoses for my car I did check gates first, but they didn't make M60 hoses back then. Probably still don't.

Never seen their hoses But I have used their cam belts - there is one on her car now They have a decent reputation and price is reasonable.

So can I get those online or do I have to go to the $tealer and pay top dollar? Who makes the OE ones?

I have 188,000 miles and NONE of the hoses have never been changed. The antifreeze has been flushed on a regular basis with 3 radiators.
i plan to change ALL the hoses soon. I promise.
