Going to look at a '89 325i convertible in a few minutes, anything to look out for specifically? Guy says top works fine, but the cloth isn't in the best shape, needs to be replaced before summer. Any other caveats? Looking at $1,100... what do you think?

It's my buddy's dad... they run a tow yard. People's cars get towed, and by the time they get out to the yard or whatever, the bill is more than the car's worth, so they just leave it there. He said I could have it for $1,100, or he's gonna just put it in the auction at noon.
e30 vert's are decent, no real problems that hard tops don't have, just the usual cam belt issues, i've never just replaced the top cloth i usually have a car with a good one installed and replace the frame and all, it's about 6 bolts and a setting up the shims, if you do just the top don't forget the tension straps i thing they are a couple hundred and required according to my upolstery guy. i've seen hard tops on the bay for between 1000 and 1500.
if the car is solid $1100 sounds good but it will probably need some work
all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it
