Default In Search of Alpine CM5908 head unit...

Well, I ignored my instincts to leave well enough alone...I think I fried my headunit (the infrared model used in late E30s). It's an Alpine CM5908, and I really like it, so I'm on the hunt for a replacement. I believe it was also used on early E34 and E32 models. Anyone have one sitting around, gathering dust? Probably the best feature on it for me is the weather band...

    Thanks,
    Bill B.

this one sounds much better (imho) it is the pioneer that was put in most early e32 and 89-90 e34s, it will plug right in and it has wb also, another plus any of the early bmw pioneer cd changers plug up and work plug several aftermarket pioneers (cdxm30 in my 90 325is cdxm6 in moms 90 325is) i thought mine souded good till i tried the pioneer, i sold that finger slide alpine turd from both mine and moms cars

Default Got the short fixed...I had let a drop of solder wander too far.

Shorting + and -...X-acto and back in business. Except the static is still there on the right channel. And I finally realized that the right front speaker hasn't been playing in a while. I thought it was because the speaker was shot, but turns out that channel is shot on the head unit...

Maybe one of the auctions will come through for me!

    Thanks guys,
    Bill B.
