AT shifter adjustment?

I thought I once read a procedure detailing how to adjust the AT shifter if the action was loose. Am I misremembering? Right now, I can move the shifter enough to show the next gear in the instrument cluster without actually engaging that gear. Not critical, but if the slop could be taken out it would make me happy.
