remove the door panel, and unbolt the motor and push the window up.

Default Did you check your pw switch?

Are you sure that your pw switch is not broken or dirty?

Also worn or broken nylon slides can sometimes cause
power window to stick. If the slide is broken window may not go up.

Check these two things before replacing motor or regulator.

You will need to remove door panel to inspect the slides.

    Bruno's site has great instructions.

How will the window stay up though, don't I need to support it some how? Or when I put the motor back on, will it hold it in place? This is my first bimmer so all of this is new to me.

Jimmy - I pulled the pw switch out last night, cleaned it, looks fine. I'm going to check the nylon slides tonight. I also checked all the fuses, look fine. Someone mentioned to me today that I might want to check the relay or control module for the windows, do you know where that is?

i removed the motor from one of my doors, you can move the window up and down with your hand. It stays in position rather well actually.

So I don't need to worry about the spring? Will the window stay up on its own after I remove the motor and pull the window up?

Some people have mentioned putting boards in the door, is this necessary?
