Default Help can't get into boot

    HI All
I am unable to open my boot on my e34 525i 1990 the button goes in ok I can use the key to lock and unlock the rest of the car but the darn boot fails to open.

ANy Ideas how to gain access?

    Cheers

This is gonna be no fun at all.
I'm guessing the linkage from the lock to the release popped out? You'd go into the trunk from the rear armrest area. I'd loan you my 7 year old first born, legitimate son, but he may be too big to get in there. The trunk liner would need to be pulled away once in there. The latch to be levered, is at the center of the trunk.

If this is the latch problem, It has happened to me before. That hole in the armrest area is SOOO small, What I had to do was get creative and grabe a broom stick, make a hook on the end and pull the trunk lining away (I did have to tear it around two clips, but hardly noticeable) Once I did that, I looked for the latch and used my homemade hook to pull it. Took about 3 hours. Hope this helps some.

try pushing the button while locking and unlocking it. Also might try some lithium grease in the keyhole.

    Default Trunk lock . . .

Make sure the battery charge is full up. Cycle the solenoid with the key dozens of times or more if that's what it takes, might get lucky. Here's some more detail how to fix it once you get it open:

    Good luck!

Default Solution to access the boot/Trunk be warned it is brutal

Nope plastic was not required one hole drilled ( told you it was brutal) 10 inches to the left of the button enabled me to activate the latch manually. Then reconnet the rods that had come off put some paint round the hole seal with a grommet and cover with the number plate job done.

    Thanks for all the suggestions
