VW auto trans fluid

Hi guys,

Just read the post below about VW trans fluid.

My car hs a rebuilt trans in it and uses the ESSO fluid. Can I use the VW trans fuid safely. did some search on the web and came out with this part number-G-052-162-A2 and this web page http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...servicing.html


So can I use the VW fluid?

Esso fluid that the BMW ZF auto tranny uses. If you are certain that you have Esso fluid in your tranny, then that will be the same fluid.

I am going to use it in the newly acquired 740i. What I have problems in understanding is why the VW/Audi folks get it in 1 liter containers, when the BMW dealers only get it in 20 liter containers (or sometimes 10 liter containers). That seems strange to me.
