    Default M60 Oil pump

    Hi to everyone

took off my oil sump today to check the oil pump.

some screws had to be retighten. My engine Nickasil block was replaced at around 50000km and now car haas 170000km. The screws have loosen during that period.

All 540 owners, be careful with that issue, even if you had your blocked replace, better take the pan off and tighten everything.

By the way, ETK pic shows a plastic bafffle on the chain near the sump but I did not have it in my car nor does ETK shows the part number. Think it was only installed on the 7 series M60's

Next thing to be done now is the transmission oil.Going to used Audi Trans oil as its cheaper and BMW oil is only sold in 20ltr container and its really expensive. Note that my trans is a rebuilt from South Africa and it uses the Esso oil and not the shell one. May be it the trans was updated to use esso oil.

Previous owner replaced the trans and he insisted that I should use Esso oil as specified by the rebuilders

    Default i use esso.....

that is what kirt koeller installed in my rebuilt 5hp30 i purchased earlier this year from him. he said with the upgrade parts & the fresh rebuild allows the use of esso inplace of shell la 2634. i am going to change my oil in 2 weeks & i plan on dropping the lower oil pan to check the pump bolts. i replaced the gasket last winter, but i did not know about the bolt issue. i am installing a new gasket again when i drop the pan.

i use red, if you ever need to remove it again it's still not that bad to break loose, just don't use yellow, aka hand of god
