If you really really know what you're doing try TMPENGC (google it). It wont do the dirty work for you, you'll have to experiment with some settings. Personally, my version of nero (nero6) which I bought, burns avi's, mpegs, and wmvs, so I use that. You might look into getting nero6, as it is the complete package for burning stuff.Originally Posted by 632 Regal
but when I try to burn a video CD it wont recognise the .avi as a valid file, wants an mpeg2 instead. The help files dont help either. Messed with this for hours, maybe I'm missing something stupid here...

it is one of the best quality avi to mpg converter software packages i have found in it's price range. i am still using dvd complete from dazzle which has been discontinued, but their converting software sucks big time. tmpgenc has a lot of settings for fine tuning. i use extreme high quality settings, but i also have a P4 3.0GHz with 512mb running in dual channel @ 400mhz each & it still takes 2-3 minutes to convert every 1 minute of video.
they have a 30 day trial last i knew.
