If I only wanted one tire all season, I'd get the ExtremContact. Jeff has them on his 530i.
I'm currently running Hankook W401 winters and the tires are fantastic! Grip dry, wet, slushy, icy is great. Time will tell on treadwear...

i just found out that michelin makes a 255/40/17 in a pilot sport, but tirerack does not have them. it appears to be an odd tire in the model & i have access to a 1/3-1/2 tread set of 4 in 235/45/17, but i just purchased a set of stagered rims.
i purchased a set of hankook's 3 years ago for a toyota camry i had that my father now drives with 12,000 on them & show little wear & have never been rebalanced. my local tire guy has good experience with them & i wanted to know what to expect from them on my 1995 540i/a in a performance tire.

Ventus V4ES H105

i was also considering Continental ContiExtremeContacts.

when i bought my 535 it had 255 40 17 on it.They were hancook but i dont know the "model" something sports I think..I have absolutey no complaint about grip but towards the end of their life ,they were very vauge and they were quite noisy, but my bridgestones are only slightly quieter. They "whined" on smooth surfaces. They also wore very badly on the outside edges but that may be either poor alignment or peculiar to our cars...
Gone but not forgotten
