Michelin Pilot Preceda Tyres - Any comments?

Has anyone had any experience with Michelin's Pilot Preceda range of tyres? They are available here in Australia but don't appear to be listed on the US Michelin website. As my 535i is a daily commuter (no trackwork) I'd like something fairly quiet and resonably comfortable. Any other suggestions?

I'm looking at 235/45/17's on ROH Chicane 3 piece modular 17x8 wheels. They have a slight basketweave style look about them but are of course sexier (IMO) than the originals.



They are made here in Australia and are quite a bit lighter than the cheap Asian wheels than I have looked at. I can pick them up for about $480.00 Aussie ($360.00 USD) each. I can get M-Parallel replicas for around the same price but these are much heavier and I don't want to go to 18's due to the poorer ride and damage risks.

The preceda's are only available in Asia and Australia... they were specifically developed for our region. (Or so Michelin says anyway) ... I know a few people with them... but these guys aren't performance nuts so I don't really trust their 'rating' of the tire.

I wish I knew as well, since these are tires I'm considering getting as well. According to Michelin, these are performance tires (a notch below their high-performance), so these can supposedly handle speeds up to 200kph or so.

I'm sure I had the Michelin Precedas on our Volvo 850 before, though they now seem no longer available for that tyre size. They were as advertised: good grip, good in the wet, without being too noisy. They didn't go off when worn but I found they wore down fairly quickly. As expected comfortable without being harsh nor "slushy" (reasonably stiff sidewall).

Having said that I now have the pilot sports on the same tyre size as you on the bimmer and as expected better grip, more expensive, ride is harsher but not objectionable at all, to be seen what they wear like.
