    Default differential fluid

    when changing the rear differential fluid on my 95 540 which fluid do you guys recommend and do i need some of that limited slip additive also?

    85w140 if LSD, 85w90 if open, no additives. synthetic of course.

    you would put synthetic into a diff that has has regular all its life?

    I think Mobil 1 has both weights.

    Default The only gear oil that bmw recommends for all diffs now is synthetic, new or

    old.
