Where in Italy are you going and how long do you have to spend? I spent 15 weeks in Rome in 1994 (over a 6 month period) and also went there for my honeymoon in 1999, for 3 weeks. I was in the Tuscany/Umbria area, and rented a car both times. I can tell you about hotels and neat places to see, and restaurants in Rome and elsewhere.

Some of the places you may like to see are Norcia (lots of truffles in this area) Assisi, Castellucio... We drove all over the place. I also went to a cooking school there. Email if you have any questions.
